My Name

           When I was born, my parents gave me the name, Rebecca Lynn Hottle.They decided that I would be called Becky. My parents chose Becky over Becca because they saw my bubbly personality at a very young age, and they felt like it suited me better. The name Rebecca means peacemaker and trustworthy. The name Becky means captivated or captivating. I am not named after anyone in my family.  My parents picked out three or four girls names they liked and ended up using most of them for my other two sisters. If I wasn't a Rebecca, I would most likely been a Sarah. If I was a boy, my named definitely would have been John. For a very long time my mom loved that name and always wanted to name one of her children to be a John. I personally do not like the name Rebecca, but Becky fits my personality perfectly. I love being a Becky and I want to continue being called Becky even when I am older. A lot of my friends say that Becky is a perfect name for me. Without the name I was given, I do not think I would be the same person I am today.
