When I was born, my parents gave me the name, Rebecca Lynn Hottle. They decided that I would be called Becky. My parents chose Becky over Becca because they saw my bubbly personality at a very young age, and they felt like it suited me better. The name Rebecca means peacemaker and trustworthy. The name Becky means captivated or captivating. I am not named after anyone in my family. My parents picked out three or four girls names they liked and ended up using most of them for my other two sisters. If I wasn't a Rebecca, I would most likely been a Sarah. If I was a boy, my named definitely would have been John. For a very long time my mom loved that name and always wanted to name one of her children to be a John. I personally do not like the name Rebecca, but Becky fits my personality perfectly. I love being a Becky and I want to continue being called Becky even when I am older. A lot of my friends say that Becky is a perfect name for me. Without the name I was given, I do not think I would be the same person I am today.

Discussing the Novel
- I completely agree with Publisher's Weekly's comment. My Sister's Keeper really is a spellbinding suspenseful novel . I consider this book suspenseful, because you never know what is going to happen. I can never predict what is going to happen with Kate's illness, and throughout the book you are surprised with details from each person in the story. At the very beginning of the book, Anna says something that makes me wonder. She says, "In the end, though, I did not kill my sister. She did it all on her own. Or at least this is what I tell myself." When I read this, I immediately wanted to keep reading. What she said made me want to find out what will happen to Kate and how Anna will supposedly kill her. Jodi Picoult reveals secrets about the characters throughout each chapter. For example, we didn't know much about the son Jesse until he narrated one chapter. He claims that he was the kid that played with matches, and he feels like he doesn't belong in his family. Once we get farther in the book, I will learn more about Jesse and all of the other characters in this "spellbinding suspenseful" novel.
- As of right now, I do not have a very positive opinion on Sara. I feel like she favors Kate and is only concerned with her getting better. Jesse is quickly falling and going in the wrong path. She notices it, but doesn't care what he does. Also, Anna feels like when Kate doesn't need something she is invisible. Sara has not consciously neglected them, she just forgets that they need attention too. She thinks that because they don't need attention physically, they don't really need it. Both Anna and Jesse are not feeling like a part of the family. In a chapter that Sara narrated, I think she began to realize it. She said, "It's so easy to presume that while your own world has ground to an absolute halt, so has everyone else's." I think Sara is realizing that her world doesn’t revolve around Kate. Kate's disease is a big part of her life, but she has other children that depend on her too, and she needs to see that.
